A recent recording. What more can we say?
“The Rest of the Day’s Your Own”
– Music hall song first a hit for Jack Lane in 1915, a year after the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists was published. The song is a parody of The Farmer’s Boy, a “folk song” extolling the virtues of life as a farm labourer. As relevant today as then.
“Come all you pretty women with your hair hanging down……”
“The Carrick Hornpipe”
– Northumbrian Pipe tune played here on concertina and guitar.
